PLOPP Pink Magenta

for the Breast Cancer Awareness Month

Zieta Studio presents a unique edition of pink PLOPP stools, created in cooperation with the TVN Foundation for Breast Cancer Awareness Month. PLOPP Standard in a unique version in magenta pink, developed in cooperation with the Axalta brand, will be available in a limited number of 20 pieces at the DESA Unicum charity auction, from October 13, 2021. The income from the sale will be donated to the Cancer Prevention Center in Warsaw.

 

PLOPP is a material proof that the creative and artistic aspect of design can be included in a highly advanced form of engineering. Its organic form inspired Zieta Studio to experiment with colours that refer to the pink ribbon – an international symbol of breast cancer awareness – and to the heart from the TVN Foundation logo.

For many years, October has been recognized worldwide as Breast Cancer Awareness Month. This year, Zieta Studio would like to join the campaign of increasing women’s awareness in the area of ​​prophylaxis and check-ups. Still the main reason for high cancer mortality is the late detection of the disease, when it is already in its advanced stage. All the more so during the pandemic the detection rate of breast cancer decreased. According to the Polish Cancer League, after the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic, fearing contact with the health service and the simultaneous fear of contracting the coronavirus, many people, despite worrying symptoms, resigned from visiting a doctor. Meanwhile, from March to September 2020, nearly 50,000 people died from cancer.

PLOPP Standard is also the first functional object manufactured in FiDU technology (from German: Freie-Innen-Druck-Umformung). It was introduced to the market in 2010, when it already won such prestigious awards as the Red Dot Design Award 2008, the German Design Council Award 2008 and the Forum AID Award 2009.

The stool series remains an icon and a bestseller of the Zieta brand to this day. It is a piece of furniture-sculpture, a product-manifesto of FiDU technology, a simple object, a piece of furniture and a small home sculpture at the same time. In a unique magenta pink version, it has gained an extremely feminine, carnal character. We want it to become one of the symbols of strength to overcome disease.
