The Crystals open a new dimension

The light accompanies us every day, decides how we understand our surroundings and emphasizes the form with shadow. Its reflection and distraction allows us to change the way we perceive reality. Inspired by light refracting diamonds, the Crystals installation focuses attention both on the form and the effect of light reflecting at different angles.

Crystals is a formation of mirrored objects combining geometric forms and smooth shape transitions. Polished surfaces curve the light, creating a stunning game of reflections and shadows.

The premiere of Crystals took place during Warsaw Home 2018. Oskar Zieta presented there for the first time a new and surprising formation of geometric wall objects. Since then, the project has evolved and transformed into sophisticated, multi-element artistic installation, resembling the characteristic shape of Jerke Museum. The mirror surface of the objects was used for diffracting and reflecting light to create light-painted story among the museum objects.

Curved and polished surfaces of Crystals installation give incredible possibilities for playing with the light. Mirrored surfaces of Crystals act as a kaleidoscope that curves reality on the internal parts of the installation. This way people looking inwards experience a colorful optical illusion.

The creation of elements in a technology of inflating metal, called FiDU, made it possible to obtain characteristic indentations along the edges, giving visually interesting effects of light reflection. The way metal reflects light create color transitions that resembles gradient. This refers to the latest collections of Oskar Zieta, such as The Heat and The Gradient.

As part of the Festival of Light in Recklinghausen, lasting from 19 September to 4 November 2018, Oskar Zieta together with his design studio prepared an exhibition in the space of Jerke Museum, joining this way the noble group of artists presented there, such as Władysław Strzemiński, Katarzyna Kobro and Wojciech Fangor. On this occasion, Oskar Zieta prepared a special artistic installation based on crystallic forms.
